8 one-year fixed-term deposits, ranked on live data (2026). How we rank

How this ranking works

A fixed-term deposit (spaardeposito or termijndeposito) pays a rate that is set for the whole term, in return for money you can’t take out when you like: some providers don’t allow early withdrawal at all, others charge a fee or pay a lower rate if you leave early. Each provider’s conditions are under the rate on its account page. This ranking compares the one-year term; the savings rates page shows every term from three months to ten years.

Questions

What is a fixed-term deposit?
A savings product where you put in an amount for an agreed term, such as one year, at a rate that does not change for that term. In return the money is locked: some providers do not let you take it out early at all, others allow it for a fee or at a lower rate. Several do not let you add money to a deposit once it has started. Each provider’s conditions are on its account page.
Which one-year fixed-term deposit pays the most right now?
Klarna Vaste rekening, at 3% for one year, followed by Ayvens Deposito Sparen at 2.75%. Rates are re-checked against the providers’ pages.
Is a fixed-term deposit covered by the deposit guarantee?
Yes, a deposit at a bank is covered like a savings account, up to €100,000 per person per bank. It counts together with your other money at that bank, so a deposit and a savings account at the same bank share one €100,000.
Is it worth fixing for a year instead of keeping the money in a savings account?
At 7 of these 8 providers the one-year deposit pays more than the same provider’s ordinary savings account. Whether the difference is worth locking the money away depends on whether you might need it within the year: keep an emergency fund where you can reach it.
